Net Nanny 6
11/24/2008

Major Feature Customized Safe (White) List

Net Nanny permits parents to create customized lists of unacceptable or acceptable Websites. For example, parents could set up a list (white list) of friendly sites that don't necessarily get filtered.

Major Feature IM Alert & Analysis

Net Nanny's improved Message Monitor feature examines the content of instant messages (IM) and alerts parents via e-mail to potentially dangerous and risky online behaviors including: child grooming, sexual predators, cyber bullying, passing out private information, use of webcams, and more.

Major Feature PC Games Blocking

Net Nanny 6.0 is the first parental control software solution to restrict PC games using the Entertainment Software Rating Board (ESRB) rating system, and the first to block desktop PC games based on categories including violence, sex, alcohol, drugs, and more.

Major Feature Secure Website Filtering/Blocking

Net Nanny 6.0 now filters the content of secure Web sites and aggressively prevents attempts to get around filtering by blocking secure proxy and encrypted Web sites. Using secure proxy Web sites is the number one method used by tech-savvy teens to circumvent desktop filters.

Major Feature Social Network Profile Reporting

Parents can easily access and view their children's social networking activities on commonly used sites like Facebook.

Reporting provides details about social networking profiles, including friends' lists, pictures, and personal descriptions.

Major Feature User Creation Assistant

Net Nanny offers a simple, easy to use set-up assistant to help parents determine what online activities (Web sites, chat, gaming and social networks) are appropriate based on their children's age.

Enhancement Aggregated Email Notifications

To reduce the number of alerts administrators receive, Net Nanny will now aggregate the alerts and warnings into one, easy to read email (over a five minute interval).

Enhancement Category Changes

The previous category "drugs/alcohol" has been split apart for more customization. The new categories are "illegal drugs" and "alcohol/tobacco". The "Ads" category has also been removed to reduce confusion and overblocking.

Enhancement Default Settings

Net Nanny 6.0 has removed the idea of "default mode" and has introduced a "default user". The default user allows for immediate use of Net Nanny, but allows for full customization if necessary.

Enhancement Immediate Profile Refresh and Synchronization of Settings

Changes made will now synchronize to every computer with Net Nanny installed almost immediately; whether these changes are made from Net Nanny's remote administration or another computer with Net Nanny installed.

Enhancement Reports & User Interface

Net Nanny UI and reports have been simplified with more stylistic graphs and navigation. Reports are now displayed by "hits" or "visits".

Enhancement Time Restrictions User Interface

Net Nanny 6.0 introduces a simple to use "click & drag" time table. It will also display in 12 or 24 hour mode, depending on your local system settings.

Enhancement Updates & Filter Definitions

Filter definitions and rules can now be updated "behind-the-scenes", without any user interaction.
